Lakes Camelot, Sherwood and Arrowhead in Rome, Wisconsin have been troubled for years by algae blooms, some of which have been toxic.

The lake management district enlisted the help of Moleaer, a company that uses nanobubble technology to bring oxygen back to lake bottoms and curb fuel for algae growth.

Prior testing of the technology has been promising, but the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wants more evidence before considering use in other lakes.

The town of Rome has spent more than a million so far on the tech. But the lakes are central to the town's survival, residents say — making it a worthy endeavor.
