WACO, Texas — Activists plan to gather today, Aug. 28 at the Waco Federal Courthouse to demand the release of two individuals currently in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, citing concerns over detention conditions and the expiration of legal holding periods.
The demonstration, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 800 Franklin Ave., focuses on the cases of Noe Guerrero-Mendieta and Erika Rodriguez. Organizers say ICE's extension of Guerrero detention expires Thursday.
Guerrero was arrested last month after allegedly failing to show proper paperwork to authorities, and Rodriguez was arrested while on the way to work.
