It's unlikely that we will ever really know when Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift, and that's completely fine. But that hasn't stopped Swifties from trying to pinpoint the date based on clues -- although, to be fair, nothing has stopped Swifties from trying to deduce details about the pop stars life.
Thanks to a recent interview with Kelce's dad, Ed, fans of the 14-time Grammy winner have a little bit more information to work with. According to Papa Kelce, the proposal was about two weeks before the announcement and took place in one of the gardens at the couple's home. The engagement announcement dropped on August 26, with Swift's podcast debut on Kelce's New Heights show taking place August 13 (although it was recorded prior to that date).
Could the proposal be the same day as the episode?
Since the podcast promo first dropped on August 11, the podcast would have to be recorded prior to that date. Thanks to more information from Ed Kelce, we know he was at a Philadelphia Eagles open practice when his son and future daughter-in-law called him with the news. Since there was an Eagles open practice on August 10 at 6pm, the timeline lines up pretty well to assume Travis used the podcast recording time to distract Swift long enough for florists to set up the gorgeous garden scene for the proposal.
But were there also some fishy expressions during the podcast that in hindsight very much look like a man trying to conceal the fact that a huge surprise is coming Swift's way.
That wasn't the only time Kelce's face may have betrayed him as both Travis -- and Jason -- had peculiar reactions to Swift sweetly saying that New Heights was responsible for getting her a "boyfriend."
It does feel as though those are the faces of two men that know there is a big surprise waiting. Well done, Travis.
