CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Jurors have reached a verdict after attorneys made their final arguments Tuesday in the retrial of a former Georgia State Patrol trooper charged in a 2015 crash that claimed the lives of two teenagers.
Anthony Scott, now the mayor of Buchanan, Georgia, was on trial facing vehicular homicide and other charges in the crash, which killed 17-year-old Kylie Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Chincilla on Sept. 26, 2015.
The jury delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon after roughly two days of deliberations, which convicted Scott on five of the six counts against him:
Count 1: Serious injury by vehicle - Guilty
Count 2: Serious injury by vehicle - Guilty
Count 3: Homicide by vehicle in the second degree - Guilty
Count 4: Homicide by vehicle in the second degree
