A man was arrested Wednesday when police conducting traffic enforcement for the first day of school in Willimantic allegedly found him with suspected fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine in a vehicle.

The traffic stop was carried out on Bridge Street near the ACT Magnet School on Main Street around 11:40 a.m. after an officer reportedly saw the driver committing moving violations, according to the Willimantic Police Department .

During the stop, police said they found that a passenger, identified as 49-year-old Jewel Danyel Hurt, was allegedly in “possession of a significant amount of narcotics.” According to police, Hurt resisted and fought with officers as tried to take him into custody.
