Intense and fast-moving flames engulfed a townhouse in Calgary’s southeast Wednesday afternoon, the fire department says, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
Crews were called to New Brighton Point around 4:15 p.m. where they found one unit of an eight-unit townhome overwhelmed by flames on the outside, and quickly spreading to the roof and attic area.
The crews first on scene initiated a second alarm to make sure there were enough resources to fight the progressing fire in the building.
Firefighters were able to evacuate all of the residents, as well as those living in adjacent units.
One dog was also rescued from the unit.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says the fire was difficult to bring under control due to the size of the blaze and the proximity to other buildings.
