MANNINGTON, W.Va. (WV News) — United Mine Workers of American President Cecil Roberts will be a special guest this year at the Marion County Central Labor Council’s annual Labor Day Picnic, which takes place Sunday, Aug. 31, in Mannington.
“We look forward to celebrating the achievements and contributions of American workers, who are the backbone of this country and built the middle class,” said Mark Dorsey, UMWA member and President of the Marion County AFL-CIO. “This is a time to acknowledge the powerful momentum working people are feeling as we organize to build a better future for ourselves and our families.”
The free event will kick off at noon and include food, ice cream, soft drinks and prizes. It is sponsored by the Marion County AFL-CIO, and UMWA. The program will begin at 1 p.m
