There's no shortage of events this coming weekend in Metro Detroit, from Labor Day parades to the Jazz Festival in downtown Detroit and Arts, Beats & Eats in Royal Oak.

That said, you may be able to sandwich in the "Detroit Sandwich Party" at Eastern Market, Shed 5, on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The one-day event pays homage to the great sandwich makers of Detroit and is being held in partnership with the North Corktown Neighborhood Association and Eastern Market Corporation.

The event came about from foodie and former Deadline Detroit restaurant critic Carlos Parisi and friends’ Detroit Sandwich Week every December. One of the restaurant sponsors is Rocco's Italian Deli on Cass Avenue in Detroit.
