A pedestrian was hit by a van and killed in the early morning hours of Aug. 27, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Patrick Road near N.C. 274 a little after 6 a.m., Sgt. Joshua Jackson said.

A black van struck a man that was sitting or standing in the road, Jackson said.

The driver stopped after hitting the man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Jackson said.

The name of the deceased was not released.

No charges have been filed.
