Motorists will find their holiday travel plans a little easier to navigate thanks to orange barrels and lane restrictions disappearing on 61 percent of Michigan Department of Transportation road and bridge bridge projects statewide. The changes start at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29 through 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2. Some limits will remain in place, including temporary shifts or shoulder closures.

Of the 164 projects currently underway statewide, lane restrictions will be removed for 100.

The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic on Labor Day from 6:30 a.m. to noon during the annual bridge walk. Southbound I-75 and US-2 traffic will be stopped at Exit 344 on the north side of the bridge; northbound I-75 traffic will be stopped at Exit 337 on the south end. For details, visit Mackinac
