KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Students across the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools district have banded together to walk out of class in support of their teachers.

Southeast Middle joined the fray on Thursday morning, following in the footsteps of Glenn High School, Winston-Salem Prep, Mt. Tabor High School and more.

The students are doing this to support teachers and staff who have been impacted by sweeping layoffs as the district tries to balance their budget.

Right now, the district is in the process of alerting impacted staff, including EC teachers, assistant principals and more. Their last day with the district is Sept. 12.

WS/FCS said the staff may be reassigned to different schools, classrooms or departments.
