Strict recusal rules for thee — and all judicial candidates in Wisconsin — but not for me.
As a Democratic state legislator, Chris Taylor sponsored legislation that would have clamped down on judges and justices participating in cases involving campaign donors.
The bill, which was introduced in 2015 , would have required judges to disqualify themselves from a case if they received campaign donations of $1,000 or more from a party to a case. The only way around the proposed recusal rule would have been if the other side in a case agreed to waive the requirement.
