BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is mourning the sudden passing of Dorothea Celeste Wilson, co-anchor and reporter for its weekly news and public affairs program "Louisiana: The State We’re In".

Wilson passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Clarence “C.C.” Copeland, President and CEO of LPB, issued a statement reflecting on Wilson’s impact at the network:

“It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of our dear colleague Dorothea Wilson. LPB has lost not only a valued staff member but also a remarkable individual whose dedication and kindness touched everyone with whom she worked.”

LPB Executive Producer Linda Midgett also shared her condolences, calling Wilson “a light in this world.”
