As students count down the days until school starts, school district human resources directors are doing another kind of math: How many more people do they need to staff their schools?

Schools can see a lot of staff turnover, particularly in the months leading up to summer break: Just under 150 employees resigned from the Green Bay School District in the 2024-25 school year. But Green Bay, and other districts in the area, have spent the past few months building their teaching rosters back up.
