Charles Ward unseated incumbent Ozark Mayor Mark Blankenship in a stunning upset in the Ozark mayoral race Tuesday.
Ward said he's humbled and honored by the win. The mayor-elect has a five-year plan that includes bringing industry and jobs to the area and increasing housing. But his main goal, he said, is to pull the city together again. "United we can do great things," he said.
"As elected officials we have got to understand that we are servants of the people."
Ward attended Wallace Community College and Troy University, served as the Ozark Department of Public Safety director after his retirement from decades of service with the Alabama State Troopers, and has big ideas for the city he'll soon lead.
