JONESBORO — Things are coming up roses for the Jonesboro High School Majestic Marching Cardinals.

The band was recently invited to perform in the 2027 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif. — the first time a Clayton County band will march in the historic parade.

Each year, the annual New Year’s Day parade hosts some 5,000 band members from throughout the country and world.

During the selection process, parade officials have been spending months reviewing applications, resumes and videos.

According to the announcement video, Jonesboro was chosen for its musicality, esprit de corps and technical expertise.

The Rose Parade invitation is the latest in a string of high-profile performances for the local marching band.
