PEKIN ( 25News Now ) - A not-for-profit organization serving families is receiving a funding boost thanks to a TIF grant.

The Tazewell County Resource Centers, or TCRC, offers unique services and programs aimed at developmental disabilities and visual impairment. Six groups applied for the tax increment financing grant, but Pekin’s city council only awarded three on Monday night.

Pekin’s economic development director, Josh Wray, said council members went back and forth on whether the grant should include not-for-profits and narrowly passed.

The $5,000 grant will now go toward renovating the building, with the hopes of attracting more people to their downtown location.
