The defending Memorial Cup champions brought nine players to training camp this week who wouldn’t be here if the NCAA had not changed its rule to allow Canadian Hockey Leaguers the chance to keep their U.S. college eligibility. Article content Article content
“We were able to replenish with older guys like (Ben) Wilmott, Kaeden (Hawkins) and Julian Brown,” London associate GM Rob Simpson said. “We were able to fill some gaps with guys who have more junior experience. It was a good year for us for the new rule to happen because it opened up a way for us to add some veterans to our lineup.”
