On TV, elderly gumshoes are enjoying a revival. Netflix’s “Man on the Inside,” CBS’s “Matlock” and Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” all feature charismatic white-haired sleuths struggling to bring some justice to the world while healing from their own traumas. Enter Netflix’s “Thursday Murder Club,” wherein a group of old folks solve murders from a posh retirement home. It may be a film rather than a series (to its detriment; this is one of the few properties that should have been split up and made longer) but it understands the assignment — and the zeitgeist.
