Compound Long Beach, an art and cultural complex that has operated in the Zaferia neighborhood for about five years, officially ceased operations as of Monday, Aug. 18.

The idea for Compound was created in 2013 by its founder, Megan Tagliaferri, who wanted “to bring greater healing, transformation, and personal growth to individuals living a human experience,” according to a letter she wrote about the complex’s closing.

But it wasn’t until 2020 that Compound came to life. Since then, the space has played host to hundreds of local artists, wellness experiences, community-building initiatives, a restaurant, and more.
