Authorities on the Peninsula have arrested a suspect on suspicion of murder following a deadly stabbing at the Redwood City Caltrain station during the Wednesday afternoon commute.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the station around 4:55 p.m. following reports of a stabbing on the platform. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, identified as an adult male from San Mateo.

The man was taken to a local trauma center for treatment of serious injuries. In an update Thursday afternoon, deputies said the man died at the hospital Wednesday night.

Deputies said they were able to identify a suspect. Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, the suspect was taken into custody without incident on the 2600 block of El Camino Real in Redwood City.
