One person from North Bay is dead following a collision on Wednesday in Sudbury between the drivers of a transport truck and a passenger vehicle.

The OPP in Sudbury, along with fire and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the crash around 6:25 p.m., where Highway 17 meets Highway 69 near McFarlane Lake.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 26-year-old person from North Bay, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release the victim’s name.

The transport driver was not injured.

The highway was closed in both directions for more than eight hours.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team to determine the cause of the crash.
