ANN ARBOR, MI - Police were at an Ann Arbor Catholic school Thursday morning as a precautionary measure following a fatal shooting at a Minnesota school Wednesday.

Two police officers were stationed outside St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, 2270 E. Stadium Boulevard, Aug. 28 “out of an abundance of caution,” confirmed Chris Page, Ann Arbor police spokesperson.

Police and the school often work together and are “committed to making students and families feel safe,” said Julie Pritzel, principal of St. Francis.

“The police were here this morning as a precaution, and more of an assurance, that they are alert and on top of the community,” Pritzel said.
