Tiverton Town Hall is getting some much-needed upgrades and improvements, following several council votes since March to spend $355,000 on the project. While work is ongoing, the 343 Highland Road building, built in 1967, is open for business.
Renovations include making the front walkway compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), updating flooring and carpeting, a redesign of offices for the town clerk, building department and town administrator, new windows, some new shingling and repairs to some woodwork.
The project has gone mostly according to plan so far, though town administrator Patrick Jones said asbestos was recently found in flooring tiles hidden underneath old carpet in the town clerk's office, planning office, town council chambers and in c
