STATELINE, California (KOLO) - The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is moving forward with a new parking and transit project.

Lake Tahoe officials say the Spooner Summit Mobility Hub will help make SR28 safer and more sustainable, while also protecting the lake from invasive species by constructing the first permanent watercraft inspection station in the Tahoe Basin.

The hub will be located near the junction of U.S. Highway 50 and SR28 at Spooner Summit and will contain a 250-space parking area and transit hub. The hub will aim to replace roadside parking spaces in the area, and connect Nevada State Parks, USDA Forest Service trailheads and other transit stops.
