A former Kissimmee police officer faces decades in prison after being convicted of receiving child sexual abuse material.

On Wednesday, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida announced the conviction of Dariel Javier Quiles-Davila.

Quiles-Davila was on duty with the Kissimmee Police Department in October 2023 when he met a child victim, according to a press release from the agency.

He began contacting the victim with his personal cellphone over social media, according to the release.

Authorities said the former officer sent money to the victim and solicited and received sexually explicit pictures of the victim.

Quiles-Davila faces a penalty of a minimum of five years but up to 20 years in federal prison.

His sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16,
