ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Stephen Hedlund said his company, Rock Valley Stainless Tanks, turns metal into high-octane excitement for car enthusiasts across the country.
"It's just fun. It's a blast," said Hedlund, the company owner. "You have no idea what you're walking into every day, and that's what makes it so fun. You have no idea who's going to call, what we're going to build next."
He took over ownership of the company 10 years ago. He showed us around the 12-hundred square foot facility in Rockford where the tanks are made by roughly 14 employees.
It starts with prepping sheet metal for cutting. Once loaded into the laser, the massive machine takes care of the next step which is cutting out sections of the metal to be formed into whatever the shop needs.
"It's a 4 kilowatt laser.
