NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Jason Johnson, principal of Orange High School, has been named the 2025 Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction announced.

Johnson, an alumnus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro , began his career in education as a business education teacher in Chatham County in 1997. He earned his master’s in school administration in 2002 and an education specialist degree in 2011 from UNCG.

NC A&T said in a statement that Johnson’s nearly 30-year journey to becoming principal of the year began at the university, where he graduated in 1997 from what is now the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics.
