PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Brown University President Christina H. Paxson addressed visa difficulties encountered by international students slated to study at the university in the fall 2025 semester.

In a Thursday letter to the university community, President Paxson said that approximately 15 international students were experiencing difficulty in reaching the Providence campus.

President Paxson said in part:

We are deeply concerned about the difficulty international students have had in obtaining visas to study in the United States. Approximately 15 international students, primarily graduate students, who were expected to matriculate at Brown this fall have been unable to reach campus to begin their studies, and many others have chosen to defer their studies.
