Phillipsburg is establishing a new Citizens Advisory Board to foster structured community engagement and collaboration between residents and municipal leadership.

The initiative comes as the town council voted to repeal Section 360-10 of Chapter 360 in Land Use Procedures, which previously governed the Citizens Advisory Committee.

The ordinances author, Councilman Dustin Pierce, said he hopes the new board can invigorate residents to take an active role in the administration of their local government.

“It might not work, but at least we can say we tried something,” Pierce said, “We’re not reinventing the wheel, I’m just trying to help this train keep moving forward.”

The initiative received support from two-thirds of the council on Wednesday night. Council members Lee Clark and Keith K
