RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Governor Josh Stein ordered on Thursday afternoon that all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities be flown at half mast to honor the victims of the Minneapolis shooting.
Two children were killed and 17 people were injured in the attack targeting Annunciation Catholic School .
The flags were ordered to be lowered immediately until sunset on Sunday, Aug. 31.
Stein released the following statement:
"I am heartbroken by the news of the terrible shooting in Minneapolis. Anna and I send our condolences to the students, teachers and families at Annunciation Catholic School. Too many of our young people are being killed by gun violence. It does not have to be this way."
