BALTIMORE — The Red Sox have made a change to their starting pitching rotation, moving Dustin May back one day to Saturday.
Does that mean top pitching prospect Payton Tolle — who currently is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Worcester on Friday — will be promoted to make his MLB debut tomorrow night at Fenway opposite Pirates superstar Paul Skenes?
“No. It doesn’t mean anything,” manager Alex Cora said before Boston’s game against the Orioles on Thursday . “It means that we haven’t made a decision and we’ll see where we’re at tonight and we’ll decide who pitches tomorrow.”
The most likely two options seem to be Tolle or the Red Sox using an opener followed by a bullpen game.
“I think everybody’s in the mix,” Cora said.
