FORT WORTH, Texas — The future of Fort Worth Independent School District is in the hands of Texas Education Agency (TEA) Commissioner Mike Morath after one of the district's campuses received a sustained unacceptable rating.

On Thursday, he said he expects to decide the district's fate within the next three months.

Morath visited William James Middle School, Clifford Davis Elementary and Forest Oak Middle School, observing classrooms and meeting with school and district leaders.

William James Middle School is one of 15 Fort Worth ISD schools that will have an extended school year, with 25 more instructional days. The extended year is intended to help students retain information and prepare them for the next school year, WFAA previously reported .
