The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society, a nonprofit, hosted its 18th annual Fête Rouge: Food & Wine Fête chefs' competition on Aug. 22 at L'Auberge Casino.

The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society 's Fête Rouge fundraises for childhood nutrition initiatives, educational programs and scholarships and included 250+ wines as more than 30 restaurants battling for the top spots.

Louisiana chefs and other food experts judge entries in four categories: dessert, Louisiana flavor, meat and seafood, each having first, second and third winners. Additionally, three were recognized best in wine.

Patrick Trahan, of Ruffino's restaurant, won best in show for his blue crab gnocchi. With pancetta buerre blanc, the creamy dish's blistered tomatoes, spinach and chili oil left patrons wanting seconds.
