A water main broke Thursday near the intersection of University Avenue and Asher Avenue in southwest Little Rock, leading to a road closure on South University Avenue heading south toward Asher Avenue.
A 12-inch AC pipe failed, which led to 28 customers losing water service and the road closure. All southbound lanes on South University Avenue near the intersection remained closed just before noon while the water main was being repaired, with traffic being diverted through the nearby Town & Country shopping center and Walgreens parking lots.
Central Arkansas Water said water should be restored to impacted customers by about 3 p.m. The road is expected to be open at around 6 p.m.
The break was not related to weather, according to Heide Harrell, director of communications for Central Arkan
