Some moves in sports broadcasting are really unpredictable. This one will particularly hit NBA fans who grew up with Doris Burke’s voice breaking down the game. After more than three decades at ESPN, the network has decided to remove her from its No. 1 NBA broadcast team.
Burke, 60, made history in 2023 when she became the first woman to call the NBA Finals on television. She sat alongside Mike Breen and Richard Jefferson for the past two championship series. ESPN even celebrated her groundbreaking role. But just a year later, the network made a different call.
