The One Big Beautiful Bill Act recently signed into law by President Trump made important changes in tax credits for carbon capture, utilization and storage from exploration and production (E&P) to midstream operators to emitters and it put CO₂ utilization including enhanced oil recovery (EOR) on an even footing with permanent sequestration.

Reporting from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Enverus Intelligence Research (EIR) says the OBBBA impacts the equalization of 45Q tax credits especially as they enhance the economics of carbon dioxide enhanced oil recovery.
