POTSDAM, N.Y. (WWTI) - After an initially receiving plans to close, Clarkson University's ROTC program is not going anywhere.

News emerged on Thursday that the Golden Knight Battalion will not be shut down. Dozens of north country cadets can still become Army officers without having to leave the university.

United States Senator Chuck Schumer and a number of other local politicians pushed back against the program's closure. The program, which is the only one in the area, has helped produce top STEM and medical leaders for the Army.
