PITTSBURGH —

Police say there is no credible threat following the report of an armed person at the University of Pittsburgh on Thursday.

An emergency alert went out to the public, asking them to avoid the area near Pitt's law school around 12:28 p.m. Advertisement

Pitt Police said they searched the area and cleared the law building.

Pitt released the following statement:

“In conjunction with City of Pittsburgh Police, the University of Pittsburgh Police Department responded to a report on Thursday of a possible armed individual near the Barco Law Building that was determined to be unfounded.
