Connecticut education officials are hailing new statewide data showing academic performance continues to increase while chronic absenteeism has shown major declines, according to the Connecticut State Department of Education .

Academic performance in Connecticut has improved across all student groups in English language arts, math, and science, officials said. Officials said the results from spring’s assessments mark the first time in the decade since the Smarter Balanced tests were introduced that all student groups have shown improvement.
