As Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City nears its 40th anniversary in 2026, a new chapter is unfolding with The Point — a project that reimagines a once-overlooked parcel of land as a vibrant testament to the park’s activist roots and community spirit.

The Point, a waterfront green space launching in 2026, will be located on an acre at the park’s southernmost tip and will transform the site into a civic space featuring artist commissions, educational programming and an exhibition of sculptures.
