NEW YORK — Mets rookie Nolan McLean continues to amaze.
In Tuesday’s 6-0 win against the Philadelphia Phillies , McLean pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six batters. This performance, his third outing in the big leagues, was his best to date, lowering his ERA from an already impressive 1.46 to a remarkable 0.89.
After the game, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was almost speechless when asked to comment on McLean’s outing.
“All I can say is ‘Wow,’” Mendoza said. “That was super impressive. He dominated one of the best lineups in the league. He made it look easy.”
Mets catcher Hayden Senger has experience catching McLean. It was “one of the best starts I’ve seen him have,” he said.
