A Labor Day tradition that draws thousands of participants each year to San Pedro — the Conquer the Bridge run-walk — has been cancelled this year because of conflicts with ongoing construction work to reconfigure the interchange at Harbor Boulevard, the 110 Freeway and the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

This would have been the 16th annual run-walk over the iconic bridge, which stretches across the Port of Los Angeles to Terminal Island.

The conflicts were realized earlier this month and news about the cancellation went out a few days ago on the event’s website. The race had been for Monday, Sept. 1.
