A phone threat prompted the lockdown of two Catasauqua schools on Thursday, the district’s superintendent said.

In a letter sent to parents on Thursday and obtained by lehighvalleylive.com, District Superintendent Christina K. Lutz-Doemling stated both Catasauqua Middle School and Francis H. Sheckler Elementary School were placed on lockdown. The middle school is located at Bridge and Fairview streets, and the elementary school is located at 251 N. 14th St.

Officials didn’t immediately disclose specific details about the threat, but said the caller was “threatening an act of violence.”

“Police were swift and immediate in their response,” Lutz-Doemling stated in the letter.
