In May 2023, KeyCorp announced it was commissioning an external, third-party racial equity audit.

Cleveland-based Key initially said it planned to publish the results of the audit by the end of the second quarter of 2024. The bank said the report would include input from a variety of stakeholders, such as the Service Employees International Union Master Trust and community groups.
