This reportedly marks the second year of the tournament using the new format, which has seen significant changes integrated to boost competition.

The tournament format now features 36 teams competing in a "league phase." According to USA Today, each team will be matched with eight opponents in the draw, ensuring four home and four away matches. Matches will occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from September through January, with the top eight advancing directly to the round of 16 while the teams placed ninth to 24th enter a knockout round, USA Today reported.
