The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating a pedestrian collision that took place on August 26.

At approximately 1:48 p.m., a 38-year-old male was skateboarding eastbound on the south sidewalk of 23 Avenue and crossing 91 Street at a marked crosswalk.

At the same time, a 2015 Nissan Rouge operated by a 64-year-old male was travelling westbound on 23 Avenue and attempted to turn south onto 91 Street.

During the turn, the Nissan struck the pedestrian.

EMS transported the male pedestrian to hospital with life-threatening injuries. No injuries were reported to the driver or bystanders.

The driver of the Nissan remained on scene. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors.
