In the past several years, Bozeman High has found success with mobile quarterbacks. That includes Kash Embry last season and Kellen Harrison in the state title season of 2023. Jake Casagranda in 2021 and 2022 was more of a traditional pocket QB than the others, but even he showed good athleticism as a senior.
Next in line to continue this trend is junior Van Shockley. Bozeman’s free safety a year ago, when he collected 24 tackles and one interception, Shockley will be offense-only this season, Hawks head coach Levi Wesche said.
“Very mobile, but a great arm too, I think he can do a little bit of everything,” Wesche said. “I think he’s had a really good two-a-day and a good summer program too. I think he’s prepped himself to be a big-time contributor for us.”
