Firefighters found a body after tackling a fire involving several vehicles near a funfair in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to Mackworth Road in Porthcawl, Wales, which runs along Coney Beach Amusement Park and ends on the beach.
It’s understood the fire broke out a few dozen yards from the beachfront just before 3am.
A police statement said: ‘Once the fire was extinguished, emergency personnel discovered a deceased person inside one of the vehicles.
‘Formal identification has yet to be carried out and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
‘Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire.’ The area remains cordoned off while investigations continue.
