MINNEAPOLIS — The emergency medical team at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) stepped away from the front lines for a moment Thursday to update the conditions of multiple patients they treated for gunshot wounds in the wake of the Annunciation School mass shooting.
EMS officials say nine patients currently remain in the hospital.
Ten patients were rushed to HCMC immediately after the shooting, which unfolded just before 8:30 a.m. inside Annunciation Catholic Church, which is adjacent to the school. Four were rushed into surgery immediately, while the others were treated with other methods. Surgeons who spoke at a press conference Thursday were optimistic, sharing that one patient had already been released, and one or two others were likely to be discharged within hours.
